Bus Expansion The x4-x8 PCI Express Bus Expander is a half-length expansion board. When installed into an x4 PCI Express expansion slot, the x4-x8 PCI Express bus expander converts the adjacent x4 PCI Express expansion slot into a x8 PCI Express expansion slot.
The HP ProLiant DL580 G4 Server can support up to two x4-x8 PCI Express bus expander boards. The bus expander can only be installed in expansion slots 5 and 7 to convert the adjacent lower-numbered expansion slot to a PCI Express x8 expansion slot. For example, installing the board into expansion slot 5 converts expansion slot 4 to a PCI Express x8 expansion slot.

    Advanced ECC Memory is the default memory protection mode for the HP ProLiant DL580 G4. In Advanced ECC, the server is protected against correctable memory errors. The server will provide notification if the level of correctable errors exceeds a predefined threshold rate. The server does not fail because of correctable memory errors.
